Don't get hacked, get git!

If you don't use git, you're either working too hard, or not maintaining a secure Moodle, or both! In this video I proselytize about the many merits of git and how it makes it easy to stay up to date with the latest security patches for Moodle. This includes a bit of a talk about how versions are numbered in Moodle.

This is really just me talking about how awesome git is. It comes in response to my seeing a few posts on the Moodle forums about how git is "too hard" and that downloading the zip was "easier." Well, downloading the zip is only easier if you only do it once. If you're upgrading with every point release like a good admin then git is far easier! Oh look, I'm ranting again... oops!

Seriously though, just get git and stay up to date. Keep your Moodle and your users safe. The investment in time taken to learn enough git is minimal, and pays off with the first update you do. And, you can usually just use the commands on the Moodle documentation linked below.
