Sabarimala is a Hindu pilgrimage center located in the Periyar Tiger Sanctuary in the Western Ghats in the Perunad Gram Panchayat of Pathanamthitta District. It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world with 45-50 million devotees visiting each year. Sabari Mala Ayyappa Temple is located in the middle of 18 mountains. The temple is situated on a hill at an altitude of 1,260 meters (4,133 ft) above mean sea level.
