This is a tooling solution that Assembly Automation often uses. We call it finder tube tooling. A finder tube is simply a tube that guides the screw down into screwdriving locations that have tight access. This tooling solution can be used in automated or with hand run systems. This video is featuring Assembly Automation’s XLT-HD 3 spindle system paired with 3 SA-1.5 screw feed units. The XLT-HD slide is set up with the following sensors.
• Upper limit sensor. This verifies that the slide is in the up or home position and is safe for part transfer and also ready to feed the next set of screws.
• Screw presence sensor. This sensor verifies that the screws have been properly blow fed to the nose piece and is ready to drive.
• Depth sensor. This sensor is to verify that the screw is seated into the part correctly.
