Waldorf Summer Circle Time Song - Over in the meadow

Описание к видео Waldorf Summer Circle Time Song - Over in the meadow

This is a Waldorf summer circle song. It is suitable for 0-3 year olds in a parent and child group, and can also be used for older children in the Waldorf kindergarten, all the way up to grade 2 or maybe even 3.

You can be creative and change the song and actions to suit your group.

- with younger children, props to show the number of 'littles' can help with counting. These don't have to be wooden, you can cut a duck out of cardboard and attach it to a lolly stick. Simple hand made props that the children may be able to recreate (at some point) are always best
- you can also use this song as a story and make a story apron with 5 pockets. Each pocket will contain the relevant mother and children
- with older children, you can change the numbers for times table practice, counting backwards etc.

Here are the words to the song:

Over in the meadow in a pond in the sun, lived an old mother duck and her little duck one, “Quack!” said the mother, “I Quack!” said the one, And he/she quacked and he/she quacked in the pond in the sun.

Over in the meadow in a stream so blue, lived an old mother fish and her little fish two, “Swim!” said the mother, “We swim!” said the two, And they swam and they swam in the stream so blue.

Over in the meadow in a nest in the tree, lived an old mother bird and little birds three, “Sing!” said the mother “We sing!” said the three, And they sang and they sang in the nest in the tree.

Over in the meadow on a rock by the shore, lived an old mother frog and her little frogs four, “Jump!” said the mother, “We jump!” said the four, and they jumped and they jumped on the rock by the shore.

Over in the meadow in a big beehive, lived an old mother bee and her little bees five, “Buzz!” said the mother, “We buzz!” said the five, and they buzzed and they buzzed in the big beehive.
