The South African War in a Nutshell (TNO Meme)

Had a bit of time to spare, so enjoy this snapshot of the infamous South African War from TNO: The Last Days of Europe, as it would play out in-universe. What starts out as an investigation into the mysterious death of MP Ian Smith in nominally neutral South Africa eventually devolved into civil war between the government, hardline Boer nationalists, (potentially) the African National Congress and eventually the Nazi Reichskommisariate to the north by 1963...which in turn drags the US and OFN. What ensues is the setting's equivalent of 'Nam, Afghanistan and the Iraq War all rolled into one, with long-reaching consequences for all of Africa. Some of which are very cursed.

For some trivia, the audio includes snippets of songs as varied as the infamous Rhodesian folk song "What a Time it Was" (    • "What A Time It Was" - Rhodesian Patr...   ) , "Paint it Black" (    • The Rolling Stones - Paint It, Black ...   ; coincidentally used in the TNO super event announcing the war), and "Il Massacro Di Maidopei" from the Africa Addio soundtrack (    • 04 Il Massacro Di Maidopei - Riz Orto...   ). The voice heard, meanwhile, is Lyndon B. Johnson in an edited version of his OTL 1966 State of the Union address.

The video clips include scenes from 1970s South Africa, the 1976 Soweto Uprising, the Angolan Border Wars, the Congo Crisis (including scenes known to be preserved only in Africa Addio footage), and the Vietnam War. The English version of Die Stem/the old South African anthem is from an actual recording of a 1977 SABC signoff (    • 7 December 1977 SABC TV Full News Bro...   ). And yes, the opening snippet of Muller is from an East German interview circa 1965 (    • The Laughing Man   ).
