Fires burn near White House as George Floyd protests rage

Demonstrations over the death of George Floyd have raged across the US with protesters in Washington DC starting fires near the White House and facing off with riot police. Floyd, an unarmed black man, died on 25 May after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck, sparking outrage that has swept across a politically and racially divided nation
