How to Catch a Salmon in Three Casts - Puyallup River Salmon Fishing 2024

Описание к видео How to Catch a Salmon in Three Casts - Puyallup River Salmon Fishing 2024

Only a few people at the river. Water level was pretty low, which means lots of snags. Switched my setup to a size 12 corky above the hook with a size 14 corky above that. Both free floating on the line. Running the corky or bead on the shank in low water will get you snagged up pretty quick.

**The small text right before I set reads "Tip of my pole dips right before I set..." I noticed there is some difficulty reading it on phones. I'll be sure to make it larger in future videos.

1st cast, my pole is more upright and pointing down river thru the whole drift. I didn't really like the feel. My weight was dragging too hard, which means my leader is straight out off of the weight and going slower down the river. Slower means lower and my hook was likely too close the bottom. You can hear me mumble to myself about the drift as I reel up.

2nd cast I laid my pole over on its side to put some more line in the water and started turning with the drift to pick my weight up off the bottom and speed things up. I found the feeling I was looking for.

3rd cast I stuck with the same drift and hit a nice Wild Coho that fought like crazy for its size.
