Command & Conquer Generals and its Expansion Zero Hour are some of the unfairly forgotten gems of the real time strategy genre. Back when they came out, these were ballsy games, picking up the theme of Terrorism which was omnipresent post 9-11 in the early 2000s. But beyond that, it's a supremely well-designed game, and unquestionably one of the strongest entries in the series.It takes a few liberties with some of the franchise's conventions, but the core gameplay is still pure Command & Conquer. Build a massive army, superweapons and rush into the enemy base and enjoy the mayhem. There's plenty of trademark C&C humor, especially with some of the voice acting like the constantly complaining GLA worker who asks for shoes and better tools. The explosions were amazing for their time, and seeing a nuke or scud storm wipe out a base still looks fun today 20 years later.

The game is short. Each campaign takes about 4 hours to beat. If you have the time, it's well worth playing again.
