Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L V8 FUEL ECONOMY TEST | Gas GUZZLER??

Описание к видео Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L V8 FUEL ECONOMY TEST | Gas GUZZLER??

I review a Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 6.2L V8 L87 Engine and test the Fuel economy (MPG) of this big V8 engine. I discuss benefits this Big V8 Engine has to help to be more efficient like high compression ratios, Direct injection, Dynamic Fuel Manegement (DFM/AFM), Start/Stop Technology. I compare this chevy 1500 with the 6.2L on my fuel economy test to other engine like the 2.7L Turbomax and the f150 3.5L Ecoboost.

Well just like the smaller brother 5.3L V8 in these chevy trucks. this 6.2L V8 was much more efficient then originally anticipated. one thing we do need to keep in mind is that I was running premium fuel unlike any other truck I compared this engine too.

In terms of pros, this 6.2L engine has high compression ratio of 11.5:1 meaning that it should be more thermally efficient giving allowing this engine to utilize its fuel much better. and in theory be more efficient then the lower compression ratio engine like most of the turbo charged engines

Next is the start stop technology which is pretty self explanatory. When the truck stops in traffic the engine also comes to a stop. saving fuel.

The 3rd benefits or pro this engine has is Dynamic Fuel Management which means this engine can shut down selected cylinder when the full power of the V8 is not needed. this helps to save fuel.

Another pro of this engine is its large displacement and Naturally asperated torque. this means that the engine can hopefully stay in 10th gear when going over hills and not need to downshift like a smaller displacement V8 engine might need to do.

Overall pretty shocked with how this 6.2L V8 performed and how efficient it really was.

The one major downside or cons when it comes to fuel economy is that this 6.2L V8 engine needs to be run with premium 91 octane fuel which ultimately may lead to this engine being much more expensive to run despite it being rather fuel efficient.
