Self building a custom shepherd hut in 2021, timelapse footage Part 26

Super slow week, getting ready for painting the room, this comprised of, placing the central cover strips on the ceiling (out of mismatched scraps), caulking in the gaps (no footage), cutting scraps to make corner beading (poor footage) and finally masking up.


It was during this last step as i examined the patio door i noticed that there is a significant bend below the middle of the door, meaning the top two thirds of the door are flush with the frame and seals, but the bottom third deflects outward to the tune of about 3-4mm across 60mm distance, this leaves a 3mm gap on the inside and outside where you can see daylight through and the seals do not reach it.

Really not impressed with this, so not only was the doors late, arrived damaged but also now have been shown to have been manufactured wrong and supplied with entirely the wrong instructions! B&Q and Crystal-direct really need to sort out their process, I'll be chasing this up on monday with B&Q.

The most interesting part of this whole process was going to be the spraying as i've not had a go at this before - but the camera ran out of batteries so theres only a snippit in the video. Then to top that we ran out of paint, bought some new but it was oil based not water so couldnt be sprayed.


Back to rollering the paint on and it really reinforced how much i dislike painting.

End of day, undercoat / primer is done on the walls cieling but looks really patchy, this week hopefully we'll get the rest of it sprayed and i can start to put in the electrical conduit and outlets ready for wire up by a professional.



Not much more to go, so i think this series will wrap up with a video of 'good, bad, ugly tools, costs, favorite thing / least favorite thing, best installed / worst installed'.
