EGR delete is technically "optional".

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is a technique that reduces emissions by recirculating engine exhaust back into the engine cylinders.

This clogs intake systems with soot (which can have devastating effects on the engine), raises temperatures in the EGR cooler and causes the engine to burn more fuel in order to generate the same power.

This negates the EGR's original purpose of reducing air pollution.

An EGR delete removes the EGR valve and prevents exhaust from being redirected back to the engine.

The exhaust instead flows out of the truck. When you delete the EGR, you will notice significant fuel savings and noticeably better power and throttle response.

But technically, you do not need to delete the EGR. It is in your best interest as it will incrase longevity and performance in your truck. But in terms of operating the delete, you can avoid this step for now.

However, please ensure that you UNPLUG the EGR sensors after the tunes are installed, the physical device can be in place. Just make sure to unplug the EGR sensors!!

In The engine harness, you only need the EGR sensors and the Air Intake Throttle valve (AITV) disconnected, earlier trucks may not have AITV but you can always confirm with a quick google search or better yet asking your professional diesel mechanic.
