Anne Arundel County's Lost Towns Project is an organization devoted to the discovery of the County's rich historic resources through research-oriented public archaeology. We are currently excavating a prehistoric Native American site called Pig Point in eastern Anne Arundel County, Maryland. This excavation is funded in part through a grant from the Maryland Historical Trust. County Archaeologist and Project Director, Dr. Al Luckenbach, takes a minute from our excavation to discuss several recent finds at the site - stone gorgets that were intentionally marked or notched before being disposed of in the midden (trash heap), which is where we are finding them.
