Michel Gassier walks you through his experiment for this year's harvest. Inspired by our visit to Paso Robles this summer, Michel has done 4 barrels of Syrah and 4 barrels of Grenache with, in each case, 2 receiving 100% destemmed grapes and 2 receiving 100% whole cluster. All other parameters have been fixed, the grapes were harvested from the same Costieres de Nimes parcels on the same day, with the same draconian selection.
