Do Japanese Beetles Feed on Bamboo?

Описание к видео Do Japanese Beetles Feed on Bamboo?

What all do Japanese Beetles eat? Well, it seems like a long list. There are a few things they don't touch. Let's take a look to see if bamboo made the list.

There are a lot of things on the market for eliminating Japanese beetles.

I have tried the attractant, scent, pheromone traps in years passed. The idea is to attract as many Japanese beetles to the trap as possible. Even beetles from neighboring properties. This is supposed to help reduce the population the following year. In my experience the issue always seemed to be that they did far more damage as they were attracted in before they managed to get in the traps.

Missouri Botanical Garden reached the same conclusion. [1] "Pheromone traps. Research has found that pheromone traps attract many more beetles than they catch and probably do more harm than good to plants in the beetles’ flight path and near the traps. Their use is not recommended."

Milky spore is another substance marketed for eliminating Japanese beetles. Milky spore (Paenibacillus popilliae) is a soil-dwelling bacterium that infects the Japanese beetle grubs while they're living in the soil. The milky spore product is applied to the lawn. I have not done this. Japanese beetles fly in from up to five miles away. So unless everyone within a five mile radius of you is also applying milky spore this is almost a futile effort.

Your experience may vary with any of these methods, but I much prefer the water bucket method I discuss in the video.
