Rowlatt Act was introduced by justice Sidney Rowlatt in 1919, Rowlatt Act in 1919 in Modern India, this act was known as (Anarchical and Revolutionary Crimes act 1919) under this act any person can be arrested on the basis of suspicion .This act as known as ‘Black Law’ no appeal, no advocate ,no argument .The Rowlatt Acts were much resented by an aroused Indian public, All nonofficial Indian members of the council voted against the acts. Mahatma Gandhi organized a protest movement that led directly to the Massacre of Amritsar (April 1919) and subsequently to his noncooperation movement (1920–22). The acts were never actually implemented. This act gave power to the government to arrest and imprison suspects without trial for two years maximum.Gandhiji called an all india hartal on 6th april 1919.
