The Ultimate Schott Perfecto Guide

Few things are as iconic as the Schott Perfecto. You can see it from a mile away and its one of the few garments that instantly transforms someone when they wear it. Since the history of the Schott Perfecto, or more specifically the 618, 613 (One Star), and 113, reaches back into the early 1900s it can be confusing to find information.
The asymmetrical zip model began as an aviation jacket, and early versions begin to resemble the current evolution of the 618/613/118 models. This jacket was extremely useful and soon found a new home in the world of motorcycling. In these early days the "Perfecto" sub-label of Schott was extensive, including wool jackets, country-style jackets, and many others. It wasn't until later that Schott reserved the Perfecto label for their motorcycle jackets only.
With some models being discontinued and reintroduced like the 613 One Star, and others changing their fit and dimensions like the 118, finding a Perfecto to suit your needs can be difficult. Below is a quick reference guide for your use:
-118: More generous fit, 1" longer hem, Schott logo on snaps, snap for belt buckle, softer leather made of "naked" cowhide.
-618: Slimmer fit, 1" shorter than the 118, Schott logo on snaps, no snap for belt buckle, made of steerhide or horsehide which are both stiffer than the 118 leather.
-618: same as 618 but with starts on epaulets, no logos on snaps, made in either steerhide or horsehide.
