Stealth Hitches | Using the Right Hitch Accessory (Rack Receiver / Ball Mount)

Stealth Hitches offers a Rack Only package and a combination Rack + Tow package.  In this video, we briefly discuss the differences between the two styles of Stealth Hitch accessories so that you can decide on the right hitch accessory usage and/or hitch package for your vehicle.

Note: Using the right hitch accessory is crucial. The Rack Receiver is designed exclusively for hitch-mounted components and should never be used for towing. Always use the Ball Mount accessory when towing a trailer to ensure safe travels.

Rack Only vs. Rack + Tow Packages:

The Rack Only package includes the hitch beam, stainless steel latch block, and a detachable rack receiver. The Rack Receiver accessory is tested and rated for hitch mounted components such as bike racks, ski racks, cargo platforms and other square tube accessories. The Rack Receiver should never be used for towing applications.

If you find yourself needing to tow a trailer, you will need the Rack + Tow package. This kit includes the hitch beam, vertical latch block, the Rack Receiver accessory, the Ball Mount accessory, chain anchors for your trailer's safety chains, and the 4-way connector w/ magnetic clip and active / passive wiring harness for your trailer brakes + lights. The detachable ball mount accessory operates a bit differently than you might be used to.  When inserted into the stainless-steel latch block, a tight connection is created to the vehicle frame, eliminating the jerking and banging associated with square tube receiver-type hitches during starts and stops.  This solid connection creates less wear and tear on the vehicle transmission and a smoother ride.
