I have never asked anyone to share my video before, but this time it’s different. This is an urgent appeal for the survival of our orchards. While local content creators in Kashmir remain silent, a massive policy shift is threatening to crush our livelihoods.
What’s Happening?
Under the new India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), import duties on apples are being slashed from 50% to 25%. This lower tariff isn't just a number—it applies during the critical window of April 1 to August 31, exactly when we release our Kashmiri apples from CA storage.
The Impact on Farmers:
Cheap Imports: We are being forced to compete with foreign fruit at a time when our costs (labor, transport, and storage) are at their highest.
Market Saturation: Imports have already grown from 1.7% to over 22% of our domestic market.
Silence from Leaders: Our own local "influencers" and creators are ignoring this crisis, leaving the common farmer to fight alone.
