Palazzo Castelluccio, belonging at the time to one of the oldest noble families in Noto, was built in 1782 for Marquis Corrado di Lorenzo del Castelluccio after the 1693 earthquake that destroyed part of the region. The façade of the palace, on Via Cavour, does not adopt the Baroque style typical of the reconstruction of the city's main historical monuments, but instead espouses the neoclassical taste in vogue at the end of the 18th century, a taste that can be found in the frescoes that decorate the interior of the piano nobile. From the 18th to the first half of the 20th century, certain areas of the palace were inhabited by various influential Sicilian families, who shared the residence with the Di Lorenzo family. After the death of the last marquis, Palazzo Di Lorenzo del Castelluccio was inherited by the Order of Malta, which retained ownership for approximately 30 years.
