1968 PONTIAC FIREBIRD - THE CONVERTIBLE MODEL

Описание к видео 1968 PONTIAC FIREBIRD - THE CONVERTIBLE MODEL

The first generation Firebird had characteristic Coke bottle styling shared with its cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro. Announcing a Pontiac styling trend, the Firebird's bumpers were integrated into the design of the front end, giving it a more streamlined look than the Camaro. The Firebird's rear "slit" taillights were inspired by the 1966–1967 Pontiac GTO and Pontiac Grand Prix. Modifications for 1968 included the addition of federally-mandated side marker lights: for the front of the car, the turn signals were made larger and extended to wrap around the front edges of the car, and on the rear, the Pontiac (V-shaped) Arrowhead logo was added to each side. The front door vent-windows was replaced with a single pane of glass and Astro Ventilation, a fresh-air-inlet system. The 1969 model received a major facelift with a new front-end design but unlike the GTO, it did not have the Endura bumper. The instrument panel and steering wheel were revised. The ignition switch was moved from the dashboard to the steering column with the introduction of GM's new locking ignition switch/steering wheel. This Firebird convertible is 1 of 16,960 copies and had a base price of $ 2,996. Features include : This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible has a 7.5 liter 455 cubic inch V8 built by Butler Performance, 5-speed Tremec manual transmission, red exterior with white soft top, aluminum heads, Holley Sniper fuel injection, headers and stainless steel exhaust, Parchment bucket seats with black carpet, air conditioning, Dakota Digital gauges, power 4-wheel disc brakes and power steering, 12 bolt rear end with 3.42 gears and traction bars, fuel injected big block convertible 5-speed !!! This Firebird is what I call another example of the Golden Age of Pontiac. Thanks for viewing.
