Innovative After-school Program for Youth.

The Afterschool Sport Initiative (ASI) uses an innovative approach that breaks down organizational silos and capitalizes on grassroots common sense, ingenuity and resources. The ASI framework is a model for the future where ministries actively help to achieve each other's priorities ‐ health, education, jobs, community development and families -- and grassroots, non‐profit organizations are equal partners in building opportunities that respond to the unique needs and challenges of their community.

Proven benefits of ASI include:
• Community buy‐in across multiple sectors (education, social, recreation, health, sport);
• At risk‐youth become connected to community, helping them on a a path towards accomplishment and acceptance;
• Helps move forward multiple government goals and priorities; and
• Attracts investment from the private sector and federal government which has helped make provincial dollars go further. As the reputation of ASI grows, potential partners continue to come forward to partner (e.g. health authorities, arts and culture sector).
