The iPhone Fjorden Grip

A couple days ago, I came across an interesting ad on Facebook. It was for a Kickstarter for a product called Fjorden, which aims to provide a device that allows an iPhone to mimic a DSLR. After looking through their Kickstarter page, I decided to back the project. I'm not sponsored by this company, and my only contact with them was to ask for press photos.

Kickstarter has some inherent danger as part of their design, since projects have the potential to not fulfill their rewards. Out of 25 projects I've backed, this has happened with two so far--including one from Chris Hansen. I wanted to highlight this interesting gadget, while also explaining to viewers that there is risk if they decide to back this.

I want to make a follow-up to this video, once the Fjorden campaign has concluded and either delivered or not delivered. I could watch from the sidelines, but I wanted to put my money into this so that I could a) have a horse in the race, and b) potentially have a cool device to show off next February.

What're your thoughts about Fjorden? Do you think it's interesting? Do you think controls like this could be useful for phones, or should we stick to using the screen interface?
