The part starts with me in Wyndon and teaching some moves to Hydreigon and Volcarona and using Vitamins and XP Candy beofre giving some held items to my Pokémon in preparation for Leon's Tournament.

Head to Wyndon Stadium and speak to Leon to begin the Galarian Star Tournament. Klara is back, now a Gym Leader and Leon now runs the Pokémon League. This time the tournament is a doubles tournament. Given I tried to get Marnie included in the previous tournament I pick her as a Partner. Hydreigon might seem a bit redundant given she specialises in Dark types, but it's part of my team to provide more coverage and be a solid special attacker with Nasty Plot. Most of the movesets are singles focused, but good enough for picking off individual threats against the AI.

Milo & Nessa meet us in the first round. Nessa probably provides me more of a threat. She takes out Hydreigon first turn with Golisopod first impression, and I decide to bring in Volcarona - which is fine against something relatively passive like a Toxapex. Max Mindstorm after a Quiver Dance helps protect Volcarona from priority. I focus on taking out Milo's Pokémon so Manectric can mop up. Manectric has a semi-decent moveset for doubles with Discharge and Snarl. Scrafty helps a fair bit in the second half of the battle too.

I swap Excadrill into the lead slot for the next round, and a Rocky Helmet for chip damage on Physical attackers. Hydreigon would have got rumbled again against this team. I go immediately for the Dynamax on Excadrill to set up Sand with Max Rockfall, and thankfully the Hawlucha targets Morpeko. the Shuckle is annoying on the other hand with dreams of lowering Excadrill's speed turn 1 and then using Stealth Rocks. 2 Max Steelspikes after for defense buff seemed more appropriate for this duo. It proved to be the right choice as Excadrill with assistance from Scrafty took out the whole team, partly due to an anime moment again.

Piers and Raihan are up next, so Dragon and Poison, pefect for a Volcarona lead to use Quiver Dance. I focus more on Raihan's Pokémon, taking out his three whilst Morpeko takes on the Skuntank, leaving me free to Max Mindstorm the Toxtricity and be safe with his last Pokémon. Obstagoon just dealys its fate of being Bug Buzzedby using Obstruct.

With that the tournament ends, and so to does the game with a replay of the Credits.
Replacing this is Phantasy Star Geneartion 1, but a month from now at the latest, Pokémon Black should be back as the next Pokémon game.

I enjoyed this overall, I don't know if I'll be in a rush to play through more of it at any point, but it was fun whilst it lasted. One of the weaker games, even if they did try something new with the whole Wild Area thing. The Generational Gimmick didn't stick the landing for me, and without the DLC it felt barebones. The DLC did add some flavour with the story, and a lot more Pokémon back into the game, but it was paid DLC, not a free event. It feels like X&Y of its time, except this is on the Main Console and not the handheld which is the secondary console. X&Y kept me more engaged throughout the main story.
Thankfully, Scarlet & Violet and Arceus have better stories and more engaging world exploration and side content than this, even if BOTH took new missteps too.
