The 30th Longqingxia Ice-lantern Festival opened on Friday in Yanqing District of Beijing, the theme of which is Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

This festival covering an area of 200,000 square meters includes three exhibition areas on illumination, ice engraving and entertainment. Among the snow and ice sculptures, there are 170 works themed on winter sports such as curling, alpine skiing and speed skating.

"Winter Olympics is the theme for snow sculptures and ice lanterns in this year's main exhibition area. Visitors here can get a relatively comprehensive understanding of winter Olympics such as the knowledge of its mascots as well as relevant sports," said Mo Guangtao, deputy director of Yanqing Tourism Commission.

A highlight of this festival is a small artificial snow mountain under an ice cascade over 50 meters high, which is a model of Xiaohaituo Mountain -- the competition zone of alpine skiing of Beijing 2022 winter Olympic Games. Meanwhile, a series of colored ice sculptures as well as a large snow sculpture themed on "winter Olympics on the foot of the Great Wall" expresses people's passion for the Games.

"The atmosphere of winter Olympics is very good and I have a feeling here that everybody is participating in the," said Han Xiaopeng, an Olympic Champion.

The promotion ambassador of Beijing 2022 winter Olympic Games Li Nina said winter sport athletes have been inspired by the chance of holding 2022 winter Olympics and she will contribute actively to relevant work.

Besides, there are also ice and snow works on other themes such as history and culture, cartoon and ancient buildings.
