This is a short clip of Baldrick, who is a baby Black Flying-Fox who is aged about 8 weeks in this video. He was found on the ground on his mother, who died on powerlines after receiving an electric shock.
Most babies from situations like this grow and develop more slowly than unshocked babies. Baldrick was no exception. He had a rocky few weeks at the beginning, his little gut getting used to the formula and getting diarrhoea a lot and not absorbing his milk. Once that was sorted out he started to grow and thrive, but remained behind his age growth and development benchmarks.

Baldrick is starting to eat fruit but isn't ready to be weaned yet - and has been quite slow to transition to fruit. One of the other babies, Fussbudget, didn't help, when she monstered him and wouldn't let him off his teddy bear, so she could food guard all the food for herself.

He still loves his bottle and claims it for his very own, not wanting to let it go when he's finished a feed.
He guzzles his milk to begin with, but towards the end of the bottle he does a go slow, so he can stay on his mum for longer.
Piccalilli also used to claim her bottle and turn over in it, and go slow towards the end so she could stay in mum's arms for longer.

Baldrick and Piccolo went to a minicreche in the north 2 weeks ago, where they will be released with other late babies.
