Part of its Ethnicity and Health in America Series and in recognition of National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month, APA's Office of Ethnic Minority Affairs will host a discussion addressing the racial ethnic disparities in childhood obesity and the early life risk factors that may contribute to these disparities. We'll also review caregiver feeding practices and their role in the current epidemic.

About the presenter
Alison Tovar, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the University of Rhode Island. Her research interests focus on working across the disciplines of nutrition, psychology and community-based participatory interventions to prevent obesity at early stages in life, particularly among ethnic minority populations.
