Senate President Akpabio Criticises Governor Fubara Amid Rivers Political Crisis

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has openly criticised Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara for his management of the ongoing political crisis in the state. This conflict has seen Fubara at odds with key figures, including Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly. During a public lecture and book launch in Port Harcourt, Akpabio emphasised the necessity of a strong partnership with the legislature and recognised Martins Amaewhule as the legitimate Speaker. He cautioned Fubara about the constitutional powers of the legislative arm and the detrimental effects of what he termed "politics of betrayal" on governance in Rivers.
