Savinder Singh Uppal (8 April 1924-) is a Punjabi novelist, storyteller and critic. He was born in the village of Dhamial Punjab (now Pakistan) to Mr. Fakir Singh. He did Honors Punjabi, M.A. English/Punjabi, studied higher till Ph.D. He was the secretary of Sri Vallabhbhai Patel Library Narela from 1947 to 1950. Then B.M. College Shimla from 1950 to 1955, worked as Head of Punjabi Department at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College Camp, New Delhi 1955 and also worked as Senior Research Officer Class I, UPSC, New Delhi. His works are; Novels: Ghali Khai, Kitchu Hathu Dei, Lachman Rekha; Story Collections: Kudi Pothohar Di, Hinde Munare, Bhar Bharar De, Milk Te Buddha, Mehakan, Apna Des Paraya Des, Halan Bi Nash Hoye, Kacha Rang Kasumbha Da, My Representation, Selected Stories, Kahani Punjab (Edited), Vasa of the heavens; Criticism: Famous Punjabi Essayists, About Punjabi Literature, Nanak Singh and His Art (ed.), Punjabi Novel Method and Ideas, Punjabi Story-Form and Development, Naurang Singh-Life and Composition, Kartar Singh Duggal-Life and Composition, Punjabi Story Punar Mulankan, famous Punjabi essayist.
