Описание к видео Radio Teletypewriter Set AN/GRC-46 -1963 US Army Film

The AN/GRC-46 series was a tactical, transportable, Radio Teletype (RATT) station, designed to be mounted on the M-37 series 3/4 ton truck. The AN/GRC-46 series was initially fielded in 1958 and was used up into the 1980s. Army Reserve and National Guard units used them into the 1990s.

The AN/GRC-46 series used the Collins designed, Auto-tune, 100 Watt transmitter, T-195 and the tactical version of the Collins designed R-390 receiver, the R-392. It was powered by 28VDC from the vehicle or an external generator. The teletypewriter equipment consisted of the Kleinschmidt TT-98* page printer and TT-76* reperforator and tape reader. Encryption equipment was originally the TSEC/KW-9 and by 1967, the TSEC/KW-7.

The AN/GRC-46 series stations were used for primary communications at the company level and as back-up for larger communications centers. They operated "one-way reversible", meaning they could send and receive, but not simultaneously. The AN/GRC-46 series was replaced, starting in about 1967, by the AN/GRC-142, which was similar, but had a 400 Watt transmitter. There was a version of the AN/GRC-142, known as the AN/GRC-122 that could transmit and receive simultaneously using separate antennas and a second receiver.

The Antique Wireless Museum has an operational AN/GRC-46B, with part of the shelter cut away for easier viewing.
