India Monsoon Impact 2024: In this video, The Lallantop's Nikhil Wath explained how the monsoon reaches India. 24 States have issued alerts for heavy and too-heavy rains and storms & lightning. More than 100 people died in Wayanad due to a landslide that occurred in the District due to heavy rainfall. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and North-eastern states are facing havoc. This situation leads to a fundamental question. What is the difference between a good and bad monsoon? The difference is based on the amount of rainfall in a particular region. Nikhil explained how the deviation in rainfall at the place from its normal range can be termed as 'above-normal' or 'below-normal' rainfall. He also discussed the impact of climate change on the rainfall distribution in India. The deviation of rainfall has a huge impact on crops and cropping patterns. Rainfall deviation can lead to a food crisis in India. Apart from this, high rainfall leads to loss of property (Eg: Pune, Jamnagar, Dehradun, Wayanad, Dibrugarh).  Watch the video to know more.
