I made this video for my first grade classes demonstrating how to make a ceramic relief sculpture of a fish bowl.Students start by cutting out the shape of a fish bowl. Next, the kids use the scraps they had cut off to make fish and other sea creatures. The big focus is using a collection of simple shapes to make a more complex design. I encourage kids to use a cartoon style approach with simple shapes like an oval as a starting point for a fish, then they add fins and other details. It's a fun little clay slab project that teaches kids fundamentals for hand building. Like a lot of my other video demos, I kept this silent so it can easily be played in class during instruction or for students to review individually if they missed a step etc.
