ENGLISH ELECTRIC HERITAGE LOCOMOTIVE - 507 HAULS THE SUMMER COCKLE TRAINS

Описание к видео ENGLISH ELECTRIC HERITAGE LOCOMOTIVE - 507 HAULS THE SUMMER COCKLE TRAINS

English Electric Diesel power hauling trains was once the normal for many Australian States however, today, only a handful of English Electric engines are still operational around the country with 507 at SteamRanger the only engine in South Australia actively operating trains.

Or though the operation of 507 is becoming rare, the sight and sound of the locomotive is still one to be very fond of, with the striking Red & Yellow South Australian Railways livery and 500HP English Electric 4SRKT Mk II Primer mover just two reasons to take a trip or view trackside.

The locomotive is on Cockle Train duties for the first time in 2024, on January the 11th, 2024, hauling three return services between Goolwa & Victor Harbor in place of RX207, which required a boiler wash, and 844, which was damaged in a level crossing incident the day prior. Since the arrival of 844 to the SteamRanger Heritage Railway, 507 has been fairly restricted to the Goolwa Depot as a yard shunter; however, it is also the backup engine for the rare case when neither RX207 nor 844 are available for train operations.

The Cockle Train returned to being steam hauled on the 14th of January 2024, with 507 returned back to shunt workings at the Goolwa depot until it's next unscheduled appearance on the Cockle Train, whenever that shall be.
