Today at Aastha, a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session was conducted to equip nurses with life-saving skills. BLS refers to a set of medical procedures performed in emergency situations to sustain life until advanced medical care arrives. It includes CPR, airway management, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

CPR is a critical emergency procedure that helps restore blood circulation and breathing in someone who has suffered cardiac arrest.

By combining chest compressions with rescue breaths, CPR maintains oxygen flow to vital organs until professional medical intervention is available.There are five crucial steps in CPR. The first is scene safety, where rescuers ensure that the environment is safe for both the patient and themselves before proceeding. The second step is to check for a response by tapping the patient and asking loudly if they are okay. If there is no response, the third step is to call for help, which includes activating emergency medical services or asking someone nearby to do so. The fourth step is to check the carotid

nulse for at least 5-10 seconde to determine ifthe heart is still beating. If there is no pulse, the final step is to begin CPR, which involves performing chest compressions and rescue breaths in cycles to restore circulation.
