DOT 3 Vs DOT 4 Brake Fluids -

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that is used in the braking system of vehicles. DOT 3 and DOT 4 are two types of brake fluids that are commonly used in vehicles. The primary difference between DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluids is their boiling points. DOT 4 brake fluid has a higher boiling point than DOT 3 brake fluid, making it more suitable for demanding applications with a lot of heavy braking, such as when towing a trailer.

Narrator: DOT 3 brake fluid has a dry boiling point of 401 degrees Fahrenheit and a wet boiling point of 284 degrees Fahrenheit, while DOT 4 brake fluid has a dry boiling point of 446 degrees Fahrenheit and a wet boiling point of 311 degrees Fahrenheit. DOT 4 brake fluid is more resistant to heat and is less likely to vaporize under high temperatures than DOT 3 brake fluid.

Narrator: It is important to note that DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluids are not interchangeable. If your vehicle requires DOT 3 brake fluid, you should not use DOT 4 brake fluid, and vice versa.
