Preparing your child for surgery - Kelowna General Hospital

Описание к видео Preparing your child for surgery - Kelowna General Hospital

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) cares for over 500 pediatric surgical patients a year. Since children are not just little adults, the way in which we prepare them for surgery should reflect that.
Research supports that parents and children benefit from having specific tools to prepare for surgery, such as a video and/or storybook that will explain and outline their experience.

These preparation tools can help decrease pain after surgery, minimize behavioural changes after surgery (e.g., nightmares, tantrums and acting out), and provide a better experience for child and caregiver. Starting at Pre-surgical Screening, parents will be given these resources to help better prepare their child for surgery.

There is an accompanying workbook that you and your child can do together while watching the video, located here: http://bit.ly/34we2zC
