Digital Black & White Pictures | Shaking Off Those Old Blues

Thanks for coming by. In this video I've put together a group of black & white photos that I shot a couple of weeks ago. Each of these pictures was taken from my property in Wasilla, Alaska using a Panasonic Lumix FZ 1000 camera.
As I mention in the video, I've been struggling with inspiration and motivation for the past few months, with nearly everything, but especially with my photography. I have a bad attitude, to say the least, and I don't understand it at all because I live in a very beautiful state. But, nothing seems interesting, and no scenery seems pretty enough to even get a camera. It was a pretty bad state of affairs.
About a month ago it began looking as if Winter was going away, and maybe, just maybe, Spring would actually arrive in my part of the world. I started picking up a camera and looking at it once in a while, no pictures taken, but at least I was holding a camera again. From that point on things began getting better for me and I was happy.
A couple weeks ago I remembered my Panasonic Lumix FZ 1000 camera, I hadn't really used it for quite a long time, and since it was still, basically winter, I thought I might try using it for some black & white photography. And that, folks, is how this video originated.
As stated in the video, I began setting up some in camera black & white profiles to give my images the look I wanted and, to my surprise, began shooting pictures once again, and truly enjoying myself. It was a good feeling. Maybe I'm back on track once again.
It is surprising how many pictures can be found around your home, or very close by. For the photographs in this video I spent a lot of time just sitting outside in a chair and simply studying those familiar surroundings, really looking at each and every little detail. Eventually I began to see thing I hadn't noticed before, shadows and light, bark on birch trees and birds hiding in branches. I was lucky too, because the sky was full of beautiful clouds. I sat in my chair & put my head back for hours on end, just watching their movements and shape changes. Occasionally I'd make a photos of an interesting cloud formation, or, when I was lucky, I'd catch a high flying aircraft with contrails playing tag with those clouds, high above in that beautiful sky.
Before too long I had gathered together a good collection of images with my little camera. I was feeling so much better about myself, and life, by then. I kicked myself for getting so down and out. But I'm better now. GOOD in fact! I'm ready for summer.....or winter. Let it happen. I'm going to photograph it for sure.
