Welcome to TeenTalk English's live stream! In this video, we'll practice English reading comprehension and listening skills through three fascinating segments:
1. Book Clubs Discussion: Explore various types of book clubs, from book lovers recommending novels and comics for the library and helping keep it tidy (Club A), to groups focusing on subjects like technology, animals, and sports (Club B). We also discussed online clubs for writing articles, uploading pictures, and ensuring information is up-to-date (Club C), or clubs for posting book reviews and exchanging books (Club D). There are clubs dedicated to exploring books about science, history, and the natural world, offering magazines and discounts (Club E), or those run by bookshops offering discounts and invitations to hear artists speak (Club F). Other clubs focus on different story types like science fiction and comedy, featuring videos, cartoons, and monthly competitions (Club G), or enable teenage book fans to share opinions and receive feedback from professional authors (Club H). We even matched students like Jenny, Eddie, Casia, Joshua, and Lily with suitable clubs based on their specific interests.
2. Exploring Media Studies: Follow Flo Collins on her visit to a university's media studies department. She learned about television, radio, films, newspapers, advertising, and the computer games industry. The visit included a tour of a large TV studio, discussions on course content and future jobs, and opportunities for students to vote on media topics. Participants were divided into teams to create projects, such as video reviews, documentaries about rainforests, or short dramas about robots, which Flo found to be a valuable and exciting experience, making her consider pursuing media studies at university.
3. The Story of Historic Photos: Read about James Shen's journey of discovering beautiful black and white photos of London in the 1980s. These amazing pictures, found in an old, heavy suitcase in an antique wardrobe, depicted scenes like people sitting on bus roofs and policemen directing traffic. After much discussion, these photos were shown to a museum and later recognized as an important collection, leading to an exhibition. This video is an excellent resource to expand your vocabulary, improve grammar, and enhance your English reading comprehension skills!
