In this control engineering and control theory tutorial, we explain how to design and simulate observers of dynamical systems in Simulink. First, we explain the basic principles of observer design (Luenberger observer). Then, we use a mass spring damper system as a test case for testing the performance of the observer. Finally, we explain how to simulate state observers in Simulink.
