While American icon Bob Ross has been immortalized through his popular PBS show, "The Joy of Painting," his legacy also lives on in an elite group of CRIs — that’s, Certified Ross Instructor. CRI’s are trained and certified in Florida by the Ross estate to teach official classes in Ross’ style.

Now, American Public Television is furthering Ross' impact by auctioning off 30 of his paintings to raise money for public broadcasters hit by recent federal funding cuts. The organization has pledged 100% of its net proceeds to APT and PBS stations nationwide.

Massachusetts has just one CRI, Stacey Sparrow, who owns and operates Art on the Rocks studios in Gardner and Leominster. In this episode Edgar B. Herwick III learns about the life of a CRI and, under Sparrow’s guidance, creates his very own happy accident: “A Curious Winter.”
