2FA OR NOT 2FA? THAT IS THE QUESTION. Two-factor authentication email scam

Today, we dissect a phishing email I received, using our handy checklist for guidance.

Sender's Name and Email Address:
The email pretended to be from my own company, which was odd. Plus, the email address looked like it was trying to fake being from Microsoft but was from another country.

Subject Line:
It said "OTP Notice" and used my name, which felt off for Microsoft.

Expectation of Email:
Getting emails from Microsoft isn't weird, but this email came out of nowhere.

Email Content:
The logo looked fishy, and they spelled my company's name wrong. Also, they were pushing me to act fast to "re-authenticate" my account.

Urgency:
The email tried to scare me, saying I'd lose access to my account if I didn't act immediately.

This email had several tell-tale signs of phishing: a suspicious sender, an odd subject line, unexpected content, and a sense of urgency. Recognizing these signs is key to avoiding phishing traps. Sharing tips like these can help keep everyone's information a bit safer.
