Is this crazy?

With the quality and variety of audio loops available for guitar, does it still make sense to record a guitar in the traditional way? I’m challenging the old-school thinking because the effort involved in getting great tone, setting up mics, tweaking the right tone, multiple takes just to get a reasonable guitar recording doesn’t have to be complex anymore. It’s a controversial idea.

In this video I look at using loops, and samples from various sources including Apple as an alternative to recoding a guitar. I show ideas and best practices and explain my position. I cover not only audio loop packs, but virtual guitar from Native Instruments and UJAM.

There’s also tips for using Logic for loops and samples.
