The graphite pencil lead seems to add to or aid the electrical sparks display !

CAUTION : This experiment involves the PZT Piezo transducer being directly connected to the 240 Volts AC Mains supply. ( AC 120 Volts supply did not give the same result )

Every precaution needs to be taken to prevent any Electrical shock hazards to the experimenter. If young do not attempt without an elder person near.

Also do not touch the exposed graphite lead when in contact with the transducer connected to the Mains power supply.

And ensure no shorting of the two electrodes of the piezo transducer which would blow the Mains supply fuse or trip the Mains circuit breaker
