A photography friend and I visited the Turnbull National Wildlife refuge in late September in hopes of photographing the moose in rut. Early fall is a fantastic time to explore this gem of a wildlife refuge in Eastern Washington.

Over the course of an evening and early morning we saw 5-6 moose, including a breeding pair and a mother with her calf. We also saw a porcupine in a tree, several coyote, wild turkeys, bluebirds, woodpeckers, and several other animals.
