The term VCI stands for a substance class of vapor-volatile substances that form a monomolecular protective film on a metal surface that protects against corrosion. The VCI active substance evaporates from the carrier material such as foil, paper, cardboard or foam and thus forms an invisible protective layer. VCI corrosion protection is part of the packaging material and does not require any additional measures such as preservation or depreservation. Corrosion protection and packaging are carried out in one operation.
