FEEDING HYENAS in the colorful Islamic holy city of Harar, Ethiopia (Very impressive place!) 🇪🇹

I ended my journey around Ethiopia with a visit to the city of Harar - one of Islam's holiest cities, which offers one of the most impressively colorful walled Old Towns on the face of the Earth. This city is largely untouched by mass tourism, and exists in its purest form: mud-brick structures painted in candy-colored hugging steep alleyways along the hillsides; donkeys crossing the road at every turn; vibrant markets where the Ethiopian people go about their daily lives. This is African travel at its finest, and by far one of the most culturally rich destinations on Earth (rivaling Fez, Morocco).

To top it all off, this city is home to a somewhat domesticated pack of hyenas, who have been fed nightly for the past few decades. The friendly "Hyena Man" hosts nightly 'performances' where visitors are invited to feed the hyenas by stick, mouth...whatever they are comfortable with.

From Harar, I briefly poked around the city of Dire Dawa, then moved onward by air into my final country in East Africa of Djibouti.
