Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is a high school student who gains spider-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically modified spider. While searching for the truth about his parents, he meets Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father’s former colleague, who transforms into The Lizard after an experiment goes wrong.

As Spider-Man, Peter tries to stop The Lizard while also navigating his romance with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and facing opposition from her father, Captain George Stacy (Denis Leary). With the help of Gwen, he defeats The Lizard, but Captain Stacy dies in the process, warning Peter to stay away from Gwen to protect her.
