Crispy Fried Chicken & Chips Recipe | Homemade SPICE BAG (My way)

Have you ever had a spice bag? Do you know what this is? Well, I do, and this is my first time making this. A spice bag is literally a paper bag filled with crispy chicken and chips coated in an aromatic salt and pepper seasoning. The sauteed onions and peppers also add another level of flavor. I will also make a homemade chip shop curry sauce that is a keeper. I started this venture without a recipe, but after researching, I came up with something that works!

INGREDIENTS

SPICE BAG SEASONING
2 Tbsp coarse sea salt
2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp Chinese five spice
1 tsp white pepper

CHICKEN
1lb chicken breast
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp spice bag seasoning
1 large egg
2 Tbsp flour dredge

FLOUR DREDGE
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt

CURRY SAUCE
1 small onion
1/2 large apple
3 Tbsp golden raisins
1 Tbsp tomato paste
2 Tbsp curry powder (I said 3 in the video. Whoops!)
2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
2 cups water
2 1/2 Tbsp cooking oil
2 heaping Tbsp all-purpose flour
salt & pepper to taste
