Fairly nice day today, so got the wall framing for the west wall and loft floor beam completed.

Didn't bother to bring the mitre saw out for the studs, just nailed a jig straight to the corner of the building and used it to cut the studs to length with the cordless circular saw.

The west wall has no windows below the gable so it is a trivial framing job and a good warm-up for the rest of the building. The only slight complication is the post for the loft floor beam (and also the ridge beam eventually). I wanted this simply supported like most of the rest of the structural work, so I framed the west wall in two halves that just nail straight to the post and the beam sits on top flush with the top plates. There will be bracing for the ridge beam post in the gable framing later, the ridge beam will have a short cantilever extension for the gable overhang ladder framing.

The time lapse camera battery died just before the clean-up, but basically caught all the action. Christian (the guy who's studio this will be) is quite tall which was helpful during the beam ply placement and lamination. I put the 2nd top plate on after the wall was in place, normally I'd put it on before raising the wall, but I wanted to give more room for the beam placement - in hindsight this was unnecessary and mostly just annoying to place later.
