Denis has been a family lawyer since 1975. That depth of experience gives him an understanding of the emotional consequence of marriage break-up, both for parties and their children. He is an advocate of conciliation but when necessary fiercely defends the rights of his clients in court.
He is currently the elected ACT representative on the Executive of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. In this role Denis has become one of the foremost family lawyers in Australia and is at the cutting edge of developments in this complex and ever-changing area. He has been involved in many submissions to Government concerning law reform, and has appeared before parliamentary enquiries in relation to family law issues.
He is a former president of the ACT Law Society, of Relationships Australia (Canberra and Region) and is currently President of the ACT Legal Aid Commission, a member of the Law Council of Australia's Access to Justice Committee and a member of the ACT Legal Practitioners Admission Board.
