To monitor H2S can be difficult. The UV absorption is without structure and the IR absorption has strong interference from H2O.

OPSIS offers an alternative for monitoring H2S in industrial applications. The OPSIS Hot Wet Extractive system is used in combination with a novel, long-lasting gas converter. H2S is modified into other components that are easily measured with the OPSIS UV DOAS technique. No SO2 scrubbing is required.

Hydrogen sulfide, or H2S, is a gas. It is both flammable and toxic, and can be lethal to inhale in high concentrations. Hydrogen sulfide is also formed in many industrial processes, such as refineries and paper mills. But here, unlike volcanic eruptions, it is possible to control and limit such emissions, particularly if the hydrogen sulfide concentrations are monitored in a reliable way. Previously, this has proven extremely problematic, but now there is a safe and simple solution at hand. OPSIS has developed a unique monitoring system capable of measuring the hydrogen sulfide concentrations within the industrial process. Hydrogen sulfide is a toxic gas that is also highly flammable and at high concentrations, it is lethal to inhale.
Up until now, the measurement methods involved have proven to be complicated and have required a great deal of maintenance. This is not the case with the OPSIS Hydrogen Sulfide Monitoring System , and that´s why this system has proven to be a major breakthrough. It is both simple and safe and only requires minimum maintenance, a quality which has been in great demand for a very long time.– It has been a challenge to develop a monitoring system that can measure both low and high concentrations of H2S with good-enough measurement performance, no matter concentration. The system is ready for installation in all industrial processes where you simply and safely wish to keep track of the H2S concentration.The system however, boasts even more positive features. A single analyser can be configured to monitor not only H2S concentrations but also a range of other gaseous compounds, including the ones listed here: When it concerns H2S, the system is highly accurate with a very low detection limit, typically down to one milligram per cubic metre. At the same time, it is capable of handling a broad measurement range.The OPSIS H2S monitoring system can be installed in both existing and new processes. We will now show you what a typical installation can look like. A sampling probe is installed in the duct. A fraction of the gas mixture is continuously extracted and led through a filter, where any particles are caught.
The gas is then forwarded via a heated sample line to the monitoring cabinet. The gas mixture passes through an optical measurement cell where a light beam is shining through the gas.
The light is then lead from the sensor unit, via an optical fibre, to the analyser. Here, the light is analysed, the concentrations of the gases are calculated, and all measurement values are stored.
